This Kombu tea (kombu powder) is made from natural domestic ingredients such as natural true kombu from southern Hokkaido, Nankou plum meat from Wakayama Prefecture, natural grilled salt from Ako, and beet sugar from Hokkaido. The salt content per cup is only 0.31g, taking into consideration reduced salt content, and no chemical seasonings are used at all. Kombu is rich in minerals, dietary fiber, and the umami component glutamic acid, and is said to be good for health. It can also be used as a seasoning for cooking, with its intense umami being a distinctive feature. "Nagaike Kombu's Plum Kombu Tea," handled by a long-established kombu shop founded in 1864, obtained a manufacturing patent in Showa 39 (1964) and is a masterpiece completed after 8 years of trial and error.
